The maximum number of people we would like to serve outside is 200. (If the number of guests attending is less than 90, Shore Acres restaurant is available. See Inside Events on our Website)
Your outside celebration can take place between 10:00 AM to 9:30 PM. Vermont law requires that all events end by 10:00 PM. We like to be excellent neighbors to all the surrounding residents so we are interested in keeping all parties happy with our closing hour.
Land Rental FeeWe charge a $1,750.00 land rental fee (inclusive of Vermont’s 9% sales tax) for the use of our property. The charge includes:
Our rented tents must have pull down sides in the event of inclement weather. The tents that work best are the canopy tents that can withstand high winds. The islands can become very windy. Many of the caterers will request a separate cook’s tent to keep their preparation and clean-up enclosed. Most of the tent companies will rent tables, chairs and linens.
We recommend:
Depending on the size of your event, one or two portable toilets must be rented. The portable toilets available now are nice and some have running water. Unfortunately, due to our septic system, your group cannot use our restaurant toilets. We recommend:
We let you bring in the caterer of your choice. It is important to inform your caterer that our kitchen is not available for storage or cooking. Here is a little list of some of the caterers in our area. (Depending on the number of people attending your celebration, Shore Acres is available to cater for some events.)
Shore Acres will serve all the beverages including alcohol and nonalcoholic drinks. We use clear Solo plastic cups, but if provided, we will use glassware. We are flexible with the alcohol that is served: full service vs. wine and beer. Prices will depend on the kinds of wine, beer and liquor you decide to serve your guests. We charge $25.00 per hour for each bartender for the duration of the event including set up and break down. A 10% Vermont alcohol tax and a 15% service charge will be added to the alcohol served.
Vermont is very strict about their liquor laws; therefore we are required to be strict also. Alcoholic beverages other than those served by Shore Acres cannot be consumed in our public areas. This is the Vermont law and noncompliance of this law would force us to shut down the event.
Alcohol will be served from the beginning of your event with the last call at 9:00 PM. If your guests are not staying with us at Shore Acres it would be appreciated that the wedding party provide transportation to and from the guests’ hotel.
Your party is responsible for all decorations: tent and table including set up and breakdown. The rental companies will have specific cleanup requirements. Many of the caterers will help with set up and break down of the tables.
If you have not already chosen a wedding coordinator, we do have our own in-house wedding coordinator. Her fee is based on your needs and she would be able to help with any or all aspects of your wedding details prior to or during the event. There is also a local certified upscale wedding coordinator in Grand Isle.
Besides the vendors mentioned above, we would be happy to recommend other vendors for flowers, photography and music.
Parking will be set up for your group in one of our fields. It does require walking a short distance down to the tent. The tent company and other vendors will be allowed access to the tent but other vehicles will be directed to the field above the tent location. We also have the use of golf carts to help anyone unable to walk down to the tent.
Shore Acres RoomsShore Acres has 23 rooms in total. Please let us know if you will need lodging and the number of rooms needed. A minimum two-night stay is required for each room. Non-confirmed rooms are typically held up to 4 months prior to your event (for a June, July and August event, 5 months prior to the event.) In order to confirm each room, a deposit for the first night is required. Rooms will not be held past the 4 or 5 month cut off date without a deposit. We recommend that your guests call for reservations as soon as possible as we are taking room reservations through 2013.
Deposits and final payment: With the initial signing of a contract we would like to receive a $1,000.00 deposit. Another $1,000.00 deposit is required 90 days prior to your event. Final payment can be made on your event day. (This deposit is refundable if given a 6-month notice prior to the event day.)
Please let us know if we can answer any more questions or assist you in any other way.
